Kelly & Mark's Wedding

Updated: Aug 27, 2019

Saturday 24th August saw me at the Kingswood Hotel in Burntisland. bridal prep was at Kelly's home which coincidentally is just along the road from mine so the day started off a little bit more relaxed for myself as I didn't have to travel very far. When I arrived John(father of the bride) was leaving the house with Lucas to give them a bit more peace to get ready but John was getting his orders for when to come back.

I got into the house & I was welcomed by Victoria who I used to work alongside so it was to see a familiar face. We got down to business straight away by gossiping about everything & nothing, lol. Bridal prep was so relaxed & a great laugh. It was especially funny when Mark phoned to say that he had left his sporran at the house as he cannot find it, so Kelly went hunting around the house & came back but no sporran to be found so she was getting a little bit hot & bothered by this & shouted things to Mark to the phone which I cannot repeat on here. But low and behold Mark found his sporran wrapped in someone else's kilt, panic over.

After this Kelly was telling everyone about her surprise for Mark with an old army friend that is emigrating to Australia. Blake originally accepted the wedding invitation but came up with a plan with Kelly to surprise him instead. so Blake told mark he had to go to an emigration meeting that he could not get out of, when secretly he was going to drive up early from England to surprise Mark. This is such a sweet idea as it may be the last time they see each other for years so a very nice touch from everyone involved.

This took up a bit of time of bridal prep & before I knew it Amanda & Margaret(mother of the bride & bridesmaid) had arrived & were getting their make up on. I then met Blair from Media Images Videography & we straight away hit it off, there was a team of 3 capturing the videography & the whole team were amazing to work alongside & would love to do so in the future. Then it was that time again for the bride to go & put her wedding dress on, John was primed for his reveal of Kelly's dress. When John came into the room & it was clear to see the emotion, pride & love for his daughter. Sidenote: im glad im behind the camera as a father of 2 girls myself I do get a bit emotional myself. It was time for me to move on to the Kingswood Hotel in the glorious weather.

I arrived at the venue & it was hot in the ceremony room, Kelly was piped up the drive by the awesome Steven from Scotia Pipers(more of him later in the blog) & Kelly very graciously was brought out of the beautiful wedding car from the wedding car people. It was now time for the ceremony & it was taken by Bob who was excellent & personable. Ceremony was loving & beautiful. We then headed outside for some formal photos where I had to have a brightly coloured dinosaur on top of my camera to grab Lucas' attention.

Since it was such a glorious day we headed down to Kinghorn harbour, where we took some beautiful couple shots, if I do say so myself. Then headed back upto the hotel to see the secret garden where Kelly & Mark had some canapes then they were ready for some more photo's.

Speech time: the top table was piped in from Steven where he told a funny story about the drink for the piper, which was hilarious & when he then serenaded the top table with some hip movements to the song ''If you think Im Sexy'' which got everyone in hysterics which teed off the speeches very nicely. In typical traditional from these were started with the father of the bride speech, which was hilarious. Mark then followed John then it was time for what everyone is always looking forward to, the best man's speech. Lee had, had a few for courage sake. He was on fire & even let out a few stories that the parent's didn't know about.

I setup my sameday evening slideshow & i must say that everyone I spoke to absolutely loved the images & loved the idea & had never seen this before. Which is always a great feeling to have this feedback.

The evening reception was getting setup & I was on hand to take some couple shots. However the LADS came out for a photo together as they hadn't had a photo as a group for years so this was my pleasure......well it was before I started taking them. Only joking these guys just needed a little bit of a firm hand to get 1 decent image. Fairplay to the guys they were hilarious & mostly co operative & we came out wit a few great shots.

First dance time. I was all setup & the Daniel from Fife Wedding Entertainments announced them in & started to play their first dance song which is one of mine & my daughter's favourite bands/song. Kodaline ''The One'' this is ironically the first time i had heard this as a first dance song. I was prepped for this dance as there was a little surprise install, I saw Daniel make his way to the side & give me the nod & BANG confetti cannon which was epic!!!!!

I stayed around for a few more dance's & then headed outside to set up my night time shot, which I love them both. The first one I have setup a purple light behind the fountain as this was Kelly & Mark's colour scheme. Then the last shot of the night was my normal backlit venue shot which I love too. We then chatted for a while & I said my goodbye's for the night.

I would like to Thank Kelly & Mark for letting me be apart of their special day, I know it was way hot & lot's of wasps. You were both great fun to work with & can't wait for you both to see the images.
